If my favorite pundit,
Charles Krauthammer is correct, and the dream of "we
can overcome poverty, global warming, and risk of
American decline to ordinary or less influence in the
21st Century", -- humanity
will be the loser.
I do love Charles. But I hate this return to
normal right of
center belief and outcomes
-- based on the inaction of the poor and triumph of
the uninspired.
It is not Charles who has failed. It is Obama, who
has has been afraid to face and destroy
unemployment and failed to mobilize the nation for
asymmetrical war -- by
outspending on robotic weapons systems what it will
take to impress the forces of Hitlerian
self-destruction to see merit in peace and
prosperity.
Obama has lost Charles who would have befriended him
if he had changed "we can" into "we
shall".
He will lose us all if he does not embrace FDR's Bill of Economic
Rights and bully us into
financing it with the economic tools of WW II.
These were mostly money
and sweat,
not taxes and fear -- to face down the forces of
timid spending -- with facts on the ground of
industrial might development and delivery of
permanent industrial preeminence Keynesian thought
offers to the center-center -- not to the
center-right.
