  PLUTOCRACY?  AND  COMPETITION ?

Kevin Phillips defines plutocracy as abuse of the power of money to corrupt the institutions of government. We agree.

Still, the results of philanthropy tell the other side of the story.  And, Lord Acton's observation that absolute power corrupts absolutely, is key to our theory that the rich can own all the money they do with no adverse effect.  But the poor should be subsidized by government—to protect people, families, localities and the nation, from counter-productive failure of the nation's intended safety net.  That net is to protect the gift of life and the right to have a decent job or business serving the public interest.

If we favor the super rich having zero tax on their investment that serves the public interest (such as lawful industry, medicine, art, education, etc.), we also ask that taxes on all of us be brought down to zero too. (Taxes necessary to protect our money or our life—say to reduce inflation or cancer—would be excepted and endorsed.)

Hoever, the risk of living under plutocratic rule deserves attention. We observe that under political democracy, elected authority sometimes exercises absolute power.  So we see the super-rich as a balance to the power that accrues to politicians in modern society. The question we
